Mostly grow in hills, hillsides, riverbed sandy land, deserts and other places. Mylabris has a unique habitat, because adults are herbivorous and larvae are carnivorous, so adults mostly grow on host plants, and second larvae are mostly concentrated in places with high density of locust eggs. Cantharid adult hosts are extremely extensive, not only agricultural crops, but also a large number of wild plants, weeds and so on.
It is oblong, 1.5-2.5cm long and 0.5-1cm wide. The head and mouth are drooping together, and there are large compound eyes and a pair of antennae, and most of the antennae have fallen off. Back with 1 pair of leathery elytra, black, with 3 yellow or brownish horizontal stripes; the underside of the elytra has 2 membranous inner wings. The chest and abdomen are black, and the chest has 3 pairs of legs. Has a special odor.
