What is zebrafish?
The body of the zebrafish is elongated and slightly spindle-shaped, with a small and slightly pointed head, and a short snout. When they swim in groups in the aquarium, they are like zebras galloping on the African grasslands, so they get the reputation of zebrafish. Zebrafish and human genes have a high similarity of 87%, and their advantages as model organisms are very prominent, which means that their experimental results are applicable to humans in most cases. It is often used for monitoring water quality environment. Zebrafish are also a good fish to keep.
What does a zebrafish look like?
Zebrafish are 4 to 6 cm long. The body is spindle-shaped. The back is olive-colored, and the side of the body extends from the back of the operculum to the tail without several silver-blue longitudinal stripes. The anal fin also has longitudinal stripes similar to the body color, and the caudal fin is long and forked. Males have lemon-colored longitudinal stripes; females have blue and silver-gray longitudinal stripes.
zebrafish living habits
Mild temperament, small and exquisite, swimming in the aquarium almost all day long. It is easy to raise and can be mixed with other species of fish. The feeding water temperature is 20 ~ 23 ℃, and it can still survive when the water temperature is 11 ~ 15 ℃, and the requirements for water quality are not high. During daily feeding, put some pebbles at the bottom of the aquarium to make the water clear.
zebrafish rearing
Zebrafish swim in the aquarium almost all day long, and are gentle in nature and small in size, so it is not difficult to raise. Zebrafish do not choose to eat, so simple feed can meet the nutrition of this small body.
The diet of zebrafish is quite simple. Whether it is natural bait or artificial compound feed, its growth needs can be met, and zebrafish will also eat. The food does not need to be fed too frequently. The frequency of feeding can be determined according to the type of food. Common feed can be fed several times a day, while live nematodes can be fed once a day. The most appropriate amount of feeding is 3 minutes. The number of feedings needs to be increased before and after hatching.
The water temperature for breeding zebrafish larvae is about 25 ℃. The larvae will start to eat 7 to 8 days after the larvae hatch. At this time, they are fed with egg yolk and gray water, and then fed with small fish and worms.
