Fraser Coast Regional Council Excited to Present “Dog‘s Day Out” – A Must-Attend Celebration of Our Furry Companions and Responsible Pet Care
Councilor Zane O’Keefe is delighted to announce the eagerly awaited return of “Dog’s Day Out,” a community event dedicated to our beloved pets and promoting responsible pet ownership.
Cr. O’Keefe emphasized that “Dog’s Day Out” combines education and family-friendly fun, making it an ideal day for pet lovers.
“While owning a pet can be a source of great joy, it also comes with significant responsibilities,” he stated. “We encourage all dog owners to attend, explore the wide array of products to pamper their canine companions, gain insights into responsible pet care, and ensure their pet’s registration is current.”
Taking into account feedback from last year’s event, “Dog’s Day Out” has a new venue this year at Dayman Park in Urangan and an earlier time slot on Sunday, October 15, 2023, running from 8 am to 12 pm.
During the event, pet owners will have the opportunity to renew their pet’s registration, pay fees, or register their animals for the first time.
Cr. O’Keefe pointed out that the Council offers free initial dog registration and provides an animal desexing rebate of $50 for cats and $100 for dogs to eligible pet owners.
He emphasized, “Dog registration with the Council is mandatory for dogs from the age of twelve weeks and within 14 days of new residents moving to the Fraser Coast region. Additionally, dogs must be desexed before reaching 22 weeks of age.”
“The registration fees collected contribute to Council’s efforts in animal management operations, including compliance inspections, investigations of dog attacks, the operation of animal pounds and adoption centers, maintaining fenced off-leash areas, and promoting responsible pet care programs,” Cr. O’Keefe added.
“By registering dogs and ensuring they are microchipped, pet owners play a crucial role in reducing the number of animals in the pound and assist the Council in reuniting lost pets with their owners.”
The event also offers valuable resources and insights into maintaining happy and healthy relationships with our four-legged companions. Don’t miss this tail-wagging event that brings the community together to celebrate our furry friends and advocate for responsible pet ownership.
