Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa has been arrested after his pet dogs allegedly attacked and bit a woman who had parked her car near his house in Bengaluru.
Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa was arrested after his pet dogs allegedly attacked and bit a 48-year-old woman who had parked her car near his house in Bengaluru, police said on Wednesday.
According to police, the incident took place on October 28 when the complainant, Amit Jindal, had gone to RR Nagar to attend a program. She parked her vehicle in an open space near the actor’s house in RR Nagar, police said.
In her complaint, she alleged that when she returned to pick up her car, she saw a person with three dogs standing near her vehicle. When she asked him to move the dogs so she could get into her car, he allegedly refused and started arguing with her about parking the vehicle there, the complainant told police. “He said I couldn’t park the car here, and I told him I didn’t know that. I also told him that I wouldn’t have parked if I knew, but he wouldn’t let me move the car,” Jindal told police.
“They were very aggressive and rude. I already asked the police to file a 307 for attempted murder. There was no response from the police after the complaint was filed,” she added.
They allegedly bit her and tore her clothes, according to the police. “On the basis of the woman’s complaint, both the actor and the dog‘s keeper have been booked under section 289 (causing hurt to animal) of the Indian Penal Code,” a senior police officer said.
The actor is yet to comment on the matter. However, the police said that the actor has paid for the medical expenses of the victim. Darshan made his debut in 2001 with the movie Majestic and has acted in more than 50 movies in his career.
In 2011, police had charged Darshan with attempted murder and criminal intimidation after his wife Vijayalakshmi accused him of beating her and threatening her with a gun. He spent nearly a month in jail before being granted bail. He was later acquitted.
