In a heartwarming tale of feline resilience, a Tetbury resident, Alexandra Rose, has expressed her astonishment after being reunited with her beloved cat, Jack, more than two years after he went missing.
Jack’s disappearance occurred in 2021, shortly after Alexandra and her husband relocated within Tetbury. Despite fervent efforts to locate him, including social media posts and flyers, Jack seemed to have vanished without a trace.
Assuming the worst, Alexandra believed Jack might have met an unfortunate fate. However, her world was turned upside down on a recent Sunday when she received an unexpected phone call from Burford Blue Cross, informing her that Jack had been found in Burford along with a companion cat, Ted.
According to Alexandra, both cats were not in the best condition, having been handed in by a relative after their owner’s unfortunate passing. The reunion became possible due to Jack’s microchip, a fact that Alexandra emphasized, urging other pet owners to take this precaution.
Expressing her surprise and shock at the news, Alexandra admitted, “We never expected to see him again.” She further highlighted the significance of microchipping, stating, “It’s the only way they’d have ever found us again.”
Upon his return, Jack is now back home with his newfound companion, Ted, in Tetbury. Despite facing health challenges like a form of cat flu, Jack has received veterinary care and is on the road to recovery.
Describing Jack’s swift adjustment to his familiar surroundings, Alexandra shared, “I suspect he probably does [know he’s home] because he’s settled in remarkably quickly.” She added, “He likes to sit on my husband’s knee and purrs.”
In contrast, Ted, the two-year-old companion, is described as timid, spending considerable time hiding under a cupboard. Alexandra is confident that he will come around in his own time, bringing a heartwarming conclusion to this unexpected reunion saga.
