Worcestershire, UK – Plans have been submitted for the establishment of the Blackmore Park Pet and Equine Crematorium on the grounds of a former wartime hospital near Malvern. The proposed facility, managed by CVS, a company with several similar services across the country, aims to provide a comprehensive space featuring a chapel of rest, crematorium hall, memorial garden, and visitor car park.
The application, currently under review by the county council, involves the conversion of a site with historical significance. The location, part of the expansive Blackmore Park estate, served as an American hospital during World War II and subsequently developed into a large parkland area.
In its application, CVS emphasized the need for a sensitively designed and planted garden, as well as a chapel of rest, to offer solace and contemplation for those utilizing the crematorium facilities. The proposed buildings on the site would be strategically divided into customer-facing “front of house” sections and functional areas, including the crematorium hall.
According to CVS, the chapels of rest and waiting areas will be seamlessly integrated with the memorial garden, ensuring a serene atmosphere while remaining shielded from the industrial processes located at the rear of the site.
The application also addresses potential concerns about increased local traffic, asserting that the crematorium is not anticipated to significantly impact the area. Similar facilities, CVS noted, typically average around six visits per day.
Notably, the county council is overseeing the application due to the inclusion of plans for a waste transfer facility within the proposed pet crematorium complex. The development, if approved, would provide a specialized and thoughtfully designed space for pet and equine cremation services while respecting the historical context of the site.
