A fierce windstorm wreaked havoc in Colorado over the weekend, leaving a trail of destruction in its wake. Among the affected areas was Chris P’s Rescue and Rehabilitation in Pierce, situated north of Greeley, where a newly constructed barn and rehab center fell victim to the tempest. Reports indicate that parts of Colorado experienced wind gusts reaching up to 95 mph, with particularly potent 60-70 mph gusts striking the Eastern Plains.
Chris P’s Rescue and Rehab, a registered 501c3 organization, is dedicated to the compassionate care, rehabilitation, and rehoming of pet mini pigs. The barn, a relatively recent addition completed in November of the previous year, suffered extensive damage in the storm. The devastation included the destruction of a fence, substantial harm to the main residence, and significant losses of property stored within the barn and on the premises.
Specializing in the care of special needs animals and the rehabilitation of various creatures, Chris P’s Rescue and Rehab faced a tense situation as the storm bore down. Fortunately, although there were animals housed within the barn at the time of its collapse, reports affirm that none of the inhabitants sustained injuries, albeit they were understandably shaken by the ordeal.
In the wake of this calamity, the rehabilitation center has launched a crowdfunding campaign to aid in the arduous task of rebuilding. The initiative aims to garner support from the community and beyond, rallying assistance to restore the vital facilities necessary for the center’s ongoing mission of compassion and care.
