Friends of Columbus Animal Care Services will be hosting a distribution event for pet food through its Furry Friends Food Bank initiative on Thursday, running from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m., or until supplies are exhausted. The event will take place at the Columbus Municipal Airport, located at 4770 Ray Boll Blvd. Pet food will be distributed in the parking lot, situated in front of plane Charlie 119.
The primary objective of this pantry is to provide support to local community members in maintaining their pets within their homes and reducing the necessity of surrendering them to area shelters. Cat food, consisting of mixed brands, will be distributed in 4.5-pound bags, while dog food will be provided in 14.5-pound bags.
Attendees are advised to remain in their vehicles and to form a queue on the west side of the driveway to receive the food, which will be delivered directly to each vehicle.
This initiative is part of Friends of Columbus Animal Care Services’ broader strategy aimed at offering “alternatives to intake” at the shelter. Friends of Columbus Animal Care Services operates as the 501(c)(3) non-profit partner organization of Columbus Animal Care Services.
In the event of adverse weather conditions, distribution will be canceled only in the presence of active thunder and lightning. However, distribution will proceed as scheduled in the case of rain.
