In a collaborative effort between the City of Greater Sudbury and East Village Animal Hospital, pet owners with a net income below $40,000 per annum are being offered an opportunity to avail of low-cost veterinary services. Scheduled for May 1, the clinic aims primarily at providing vaccinations for pets, with plans for a spay/neuter clinic in the near future.
The clinic venue is set at the Ryan Heights Playground Field House, located at 736 Bruce Ave., operating from 12-6 p.m. on May 1. Given the limited space available, early registration is encouraged.
A nominal fee of $30 plus tax per pet is applicable for a comprehensive examination along with core vaccinations. Additionally, microchipping services will be provided at a cost of $30 plus tax. Notably, animals intended for breeding purposes are excluded from this clinic.
In the event of full capacity, residents are advised to request placement on a waiting list or pre-register for upcoming spay and neuter clinics tailored for low-income pet owners, as stated in a release from the city.
East Village Animal Hospital, known for its commitment to serving low-income individuals, animal rescue groups, humane societies, and municipal shelters, has previously organized similar clinics in 2019 at Ryan Heights and Percy Playground. The hospital collaborates with partner animal welfare agencies to subsidize services delivered by licensed veterinarians from clinics situated in London and Kitchener.
Participants pre-registered for either the vaccination or future spay/neuter clinic are required to verify their income upon arrival, presenting proof of government assistance or a Notice of Assessment. This measure ensures the equitable distribution of services among eligible individuals.
