The Ontario SPCA Barrie Animal Centre is gearing up for kitten season with a heartwarming initiative aimed at raising awareness and garnering community support. In anticipation of the surge in tiny felines entering their care, the center is organizing a “kitten shower” event scheduled for Sunday, April 28th.
Located at 91 Patterson Rd., the animal center invites the public to join them between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for a variety of engaging activities. Attendees will have the opportunity to meet adorable animals available for adoption, participate in submitting kitten name ideas, engage in kids’ coloring and crafts, explore volunteer opportunities, and learn about the extensive community programs and services offered by the Ontario SPCA.
Animal enthusiasts are encouraged to contribute to the cause by making a donation or purchasing essential items for the kittens from the center’s wish list. Not only will this support aid animals in need, but donors will also be entered into a draw to win a captivating cat– or dog-themed gift basket.
Shannon Laflamme, the community outreach coordinator with the Ontario SPCA Barrie Animal Centre, emphasized the significance of community involvement, stating, “We want to be prepared to care for the many cats and kittens we anticipate could arrive in our care over the coming months.” Expressing gratitude for the community’s ongoing support, Laflamme looks forward to welcoming friends to the animal center for this engaging and meaningful event.
The Ontario SPCA Barrie Animal Centre operates as a registered charity, devoid of annual government funding, relying solely on the benevolence of donors to effect transformative change in the lives of animals in need.
