The Summit Community Programs Department is set to organize the highly anticipated annual Police Athletic League (PAL) Pet Show on Saturday, May 11, at the picturesque Village Green located at 356 Broad Street.
Commencing at 1 p.m., registration for this eagerly awaited event will kick off, followed promptly by the commencement of judging at 1:30 p.m. Should inclement weather intervene, the pet show has a backup plan, with the rain date scheduled for Sunday, May 12th.
The event will feature an array of contests, thoughtfully divided into two distinct categories: canine-only competitions and exhibitions for all other beloved pets. In the canine realm, small, medium, and large dogs will grace the stage, parading before discerning judges as they vie for top honors alongside their owners. Concurrently, on a secondary stage, other pets such as cats, reptiles, and birds will be showcased. To ensure safety and orderliness, all pets must remain leashed or secured within a pet carrier throughout the duration of the event.
PAL has generously arranged for prizes to be awarded, with distinctions tailored to each category and participant engagement.
Adding an extra layer of excitement, residents have the opportunity to participate in an online pet show contest by simply emailing a photo of their cherished pet taken at any of Summit’s picturesque parks. The Community Programs Department pledges to share all submitted photos on their dedicated Facebook page. A Digital Media Award awaits the pet photo garnering the most likes by May 10th.
This year’s PAL Pet Show promises to be an engaging and entertaining event for pet lovers of all ages, fostering community spirit and celebrating the cherished bonds between pets and their owners.
