Detroit Animal Care and Control (DACC) is gearing up for a significant transition as they prepare to move to a new facility located on Russell Street. In a proactive effort to ensure a smooth transition and alleviate overcrowding, the organization has intensified its push for pet adoptions, particularly focusing on the dogs currently housed in the existing facility.
To facilitate responsible pet ownership and provide invaluable insights into the commitment of adopting a furry companion, DACC is offering free educational classes. These sessions cover a spectrum of essential topics including veterinary care, pet health, grooming techniques, pet etiquette, behavior management, and the seamless integration of a new pet into one’s home environment.
The informative classes are hosted at the Sherwood Forest branch of the Detroit Public Library every second Tuesday of the month, with commencement at 6 p.m. Mark your calendars for upcoming sessions on Tuesday, May 14, and Tuesday, June 11.
In a bid to maximize adoption opportunities and expedite the rehoming process, DACC is actively participating in the BISSELL Pet Foundation’s renowned “Empty the Shelters” campaign, generously sponsored by Cathy Bissell. This initiative, running until May 15, waives all adoption fees, facilitating seamless transitions for prospective pet owners.
On Saturday, May 18, DACC’s adoptable canines will be showcased at the Meadowbrook Amphitheater in Rochester Hills during the “Paws, Pals, and Pet Supplies” event, scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Admission to the event is free, offering families an ideal opportunity to meet their potential new furry family members.
For a unique adoption experience, attendees can mingle with adoptable DACC dogs at the “Paws and PJ Movie Night” hosted at the Edison branch of the Detroit Public Library from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on May 18.
Concluding the series of adoption events, DACC will be present at the Detroit Public Library main branch on Sunday, May 19, from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., facilitating further interactions between prospective adopters and their four-legged companions.
As DACC embarks on this significant transition, the community’s support in providing loving homes for these animals is paramount. These adoption events not only offer a chance for individuals to welcome a new pet into their lives but also contribute to the welfare and well-being of the animals awaiting their forever homes.
