In light of Emergency Preparedness Week and growing apprehensions regarding the potential threat of wildfires and other unforeseen emergencies, the Animal Food Bank has initiated the Pet Emergency Readiness Campaign. The campaign aims to equip pet owners with the necessary tools and resources to ensure the safety and well-being of their beloved animals during crises.
Central to the campaign’s message is the emphasis on preparing a comprehensive pet evacuation/emergency pack. This pack includes essential items such as food, water, medications, veterinary records, and comfort items tailored to pets’ specific needs.
As part of their efforts to support this initiative, the Animal Food Bank has introduced the Pet Evac Pack fundraiser. For each Pet Evac Pack sold, a $20 contribution will be directed to the Animal Food Bank Emergency Pet Fund. This fund plays a vital role in providing critical assistance to pet owners facing dire circumstances during emergencies.
Nicole Frey, the founder of the Animal Food Bank, underscores the importance of preparedness in safeguarding pets’ safety and well-being during tumultuous times. She emphasizes that disasters can strike unexpectedly, underscoring the necessity for pet owners to have a well-defined plan in place.
“By taking proactive measures and participating in initiatives like our Pet Emergency Readiness Campaign and Pet Evac Pack fundraiser, pet owners can play a pivotal role in ensuring the welfare of their furry companions during emergencies,” asserts Frey.
Through these concerted efforts, the Animal Food Bank seeks to empower pet owners to adopt a proactive stance toward emergency preparedness, thereby fostering a safer environment for pets and their caregivers alike.
