Hundreds of pets in San Antonio are now well-fed, thanks to a generous pet food giveaway organized today by San Antonio Animal Care Services (SAACS). The event, which took place this morning, was made possible through a collaborative effort with the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS), Chewy.com, and 24 Petwatch.
In the early hours before dawn, SAACS staff and volunteers, alongside members of the animal welfare group, diligently arranged numerous pallets loaded with donated pet food, treats, and essential supplies such as kitty litter. Local families, eager to ensure their furry companions’ well-being, flocked to the event, where they also had the opportunity to avail themselves of complimentary microchipping services, providing a crucial means of identification for their pets. Over 1,000 pets received sustenance and care through today’s pet food distribution initiative.
This altruistic endeavor follows a similar event held in February by the coalition of partners, which provided essential supplies to nearly 500 families for their beloved pets. The pet food giveaway coincided with a “Community Animal Welfare Service” (CAWS) day, offering support to attendees of the ongoing HSUS Animal Expo held at the Convention Center through this weekend.
