The Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) has unveiled its latest resource, the Packaging Legislation Tracker, tailored specifically for the pet food industry. This innovative tool aims to furnish a user-friendly, up-to-date overview of packaging requirements, categorized by region, to aid in informed business decision-making.
Ali Boden, senior packaging manager at PSC, emphasized the convenience and insight offered by the Packaging Legislation Tracker. “This tool provides a comprehensive repository of packaging-related regulations pertinent to the pet industry. It equips businesses with the necessary information to understand regulatory impacts and adapt packaging strategies accordingly,” stated Boden. “By streamlining regulatory research, businesses can allocate more time to implementing strategic changes that drive cost-efficiency, ensure compliance, and foster sustainable growth.”
Currently encompassing packaging regulations in four key regions—the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom, and the European Union (EU)—the tracker is poised for future expansion to include coverage of non-EU countries, Australia, and New Zealand. Each region is meticulously categorized and filterable based on specific requirements.
Boden emphasized the tracker’s reliability, noting PSC’s commitment to biannual updates to ensure currency amidst regulatory shifts. “While the regulatory landscape is dynamic, our tracker provides a foundation for ongoing compliance efforts,” she explained. “Scheduled updates every six months ensure users have access to the latest information, fostering proactive adaptation to evolving requirements.”
Structured with user accessibility in mind, the tracker features individual tabs for each region, offering a comprehensive breakdown of applicable legislation. Detailed information includes enactment status, bill descriptions, enforcement timelines, and implications for the pet industry. Boden highlighted the tool’s utility in understanding regulatory impacts across the pet supply chain.
“The sheer volume of legislation affecting pet packaging underscores the need for clarity and accessibility,” remarked Boden. “With over 100 regulations spanning the represented regions, the Packaging Legislation Tracker serves as a vital resource for industry stakeholders navigating this complex landscape.”
In conclusion, Boden expressed optimism regarding the tracker’s potential to alleviate information overload within the pet industry. “We’re confident that this tool will provide much-needed clarity amid regulatory complexity,” she affirmed. “By empowering businesses with actionable insights, we aim to facilitate informed decision-making and promote sustainable practices across the pet food sector.”
