Cats Protection Hornchurch has launched a concerted effort to find suitable homes for more than 30 feral cats, enlisting the support of Pippa’s Army in response to a concerned citizen’s report.
Pippa’s Army, a dedicated volunteer-based organization serving Thurrock and Havering in Essex, is renowned for its commitment to rescuing and aiding various animals. Presently, they are attending to the needs of the 30 feral cats, a demand they describe as “relentless.”
Linzi Fallows, representing the charity, expressed the challenges of managing such a sizable influx of cats, describing it as “heart-wrenching” and highlighting the overwhelming pressure faced by rescue centers grappling with an inundation of feline and canine occupants.
Amidst this surge, Cats Protection Hornchurch has initiated a social media appeal, seeking compassionate individuals willing to provide these cats with shelter, sustenance, and necessary medical care.
Fallows underscored the distinction between feral and domestic cats, emphasizing that ferals may not readily adapt to human interaction. She credited Cats Protection Hornchurch for stepping in to fund the rescue efforts and facilitate neutering procedures, crucial for managing the feral population.
Highlighting the broader context, Fallows lamented the prevailing societal attitude of disposability towards pets, noting the continuous stream of animals requiring rescue and care.
