RIVERSIDE – The Riverside County Board of Supervisors approved an allocation of $30,000 to fund a new series of mobile animal services clinics across the Fourth District.
In the past year, with financial backing from Supervisor V. Manuel Perez, the county has successfully conducted spay and neuter clinics in Indio Hills, North Shore, and the Oasis Mobile Home Park Community. Additionally, wellness clinics were held in Sky Valley, Blythe, Carver Tract, North Shore, and Thousand Palms. These eight events have provided spay and neuter procedures for approximately 80 dogs and cats, and vaccines and microchips for around 1,000 pets—all at no cost to residents.
Thanks to the funds approved on June 4, Supervisor Perez and the Riverside County Department of Animal Services plan to schedule more outreach and pet care clinics this fall.
“We are excited to launch new mobile clinics in an effort to save lives and show we care with action,” Perez said in a statement. “These clinics help our communities and are provided at no cost to help residents take care of their pets. I’m proud to say that more clinics will be coming soon to a community near you!”
The funding for the mobile clinics is sourced from the Fourth District Unincorporated Communities Initiative, which supports projects and needs in the county’s unincorporated areas.
