Dogs and cats lined up in droves today at the Capital Area Humane Society (CAHS) for a free vaccine clinic.
Hosted by the CAHS Spay & Neuter Clinic in Lansing, the event operated on a first-come, first-served basis. Dr. Jamie Morrison, a veterinarian at CAHS, reported that approximately 100 vaccines were administered to cats and dogs during the clinic.
“Vaccination is crucial for preventing diseases such as parvovirus,” stated Dr. Morrison. “Parvovirus is a severe illness causing bloody diarrhea and often death. By vaccinating, we protect the pets in our community, ensuring they can remain healthy with their families.”
The vaccines were made available through a generous partnership with Petco Love, which donated the medications via a grant. The donation included FVRCP vaccines for cats and DAPPv vaccines for dogs, both aimed at preventing various diseases and viruses. Additionally, CAHS offered free rabies vaccines.
“The turnout has been phenomenal,” said Dr. Morrison. “We have had very long lines, and our team is working tirelessly to ensure all the animals stay hydrated while waiting in the sun and to process them swiftly. It’s truly exciting to witness such a great response.”
