In a heartwarming display of community spirit, residents of Tiffin have banded together to launch a fundraising initiative benefiting the Humane Society of Seneca County. Dubbed the “Pet Walk of Fame,” this innovative endeavor invites pet owners to immortalize their beloved companions by purchasing stars to adorn the sidewalks of downtown Tiffin, echoing the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Leading the charge is Tiffin resident Susan Wilkinson, a dedicated member of the Pet Walk of Fame committee. Wilkinson elucidates, “Community members will purchase a star, it will have your pet’s picture, their name and then the owner’s name if you choose and where they come from.”
Joining Wilkinson in this noble cause are esteemed individuals such as Mark Levans, the proprietor of MLAD Advertising, along with Nan Sauber and Tiffin city council member Cheyanne Thacker. Together, they will oversee the installation of these personalized stars throughout the month of July.
The proceeds garnered from this initiative will be directed towards a pressing need: the repair of the Humane Society of Seneca County’s roof, a project estimated to exceed $50,000. Angela Leonard, the operations manager of the Humane Society, expresses profound gratitude for the community’s unwavering support. “We have to focus on the animals and all the care that they need,” Leonard affirms. “And we’re just blessed to have the community stepping up to help on the backside with other projects.”
Importantly, Wilkinson emphasizes that participation in the fundraiser is not limited to pet owners alone. “If you’re not a pet owner and you want to donate to this cause, you can adopt a star which means your money would go toward a star for a pet that’s adoptable from the humane society,” she explains. These special stars will be designated with the poignant inscription, “adopt me.”
The response from the community has been nothing short of remarkable, with over 100 stars already purchased and a staggering $3,000 raised. Those interested in contributing to this worthy cause are encouraged to do so before the fundraiser concludes on June 17.
In the spirit of solidarity and compassion, the residents of Tiffin have exemplified the profound impact that can be achieved when a community comes together to support a noble cause.
