Pet medical insurance provider Trupanion and Boehringer Ingelheim, a leader in animal disease prevention and treatment, have announced a strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing access to high-quality healthcare and improving disease treatment and protection for pets.
The partnership capitalizes on the combined expertise and data of both companies to identify early risk factors associated with common pet conditions. This joint initiative supports early detection and improved disease management strategies.
In addition to advancing veterinary and consumer education, the collaboration will explore product extensions, promotional activities, and peer-reviewed publications aimed at furthering pet healthcare.
Under the agreement, families enrolling their pets with Trupanion will have the option to receive information and support from Boehringer to effectively manage their pet’s health. Boehringer will also bolster Trupanion’s mission to ensure all pets receive optimal medical care through its extensive network of veterinary relationships.
Both companies reaffirmed their commitment to supporting veterinarians, pets, and their families throughout their lifetimes.
Trupanion offers unique benefits including unlimited payouts for life, lifetime pricing, and round-the-clock live support, having reimbursed nearly $3 billion in veterinary expenses for its members. The escalating costs of veterinary care, driven by inflation and medical advancements, underscore the necessity for comprehensive pet medical insurance.
“We are thrilled to partner with Trupanion because of their strong alignment with our mission to foster a world where pets and their caretakers thrive,” commented Daniel Watkins, Head of Boehringer Ingelheim’s Pet business. He emphasized that Boehringer’s advancements in animal disease treatments complement Trupanion’s offerings, empowering pet caregivers to safeguard their pets across their lifespans. Watkins anticipates that the collaboration will create new opportunities within the animal health sector for veterinarians and pet owners alike.
“We are delighted and honored that Boehringer has selected us as their partner. This alliance brings together lifetime care and comprehensive coverage at a critical time when pet owners need us the most,” said Dr. Steve Weinrauch, Chief Veterinary and Product Officer at Trupanion.
