In a year marked by unprecedented demand at food banks, a Calgary non-profit is expanding its outreach to include pets. On Saturday, the Love With Humanity Association will inaugurate its first pet food bank, demonstrating its commitment to all members of the community, including those with furry friends.
The grand opening will take place at the Albert Park Radisson Heights Community Association, located at 2636 12 Ave. S.E. This new pet food bank will be conveniently situated next to an existing community outdoor food bank and the organization’s 39th multicultural outdoor library.
The initiative was first announced by the association’s founder, Syed Najam Hassan, on his X (formerly Twitter) page in mid-March. “Stay tuned!” Hassan posted. “We haven’t forgotten about the importance of pets in our society. Many people in difficult financial circumstances, we have decided to open our new initiative, the Free Outdoor Food Bank for Pets (take a blessing — leave a blessing).”
In addition to this location, a second pet food bank has already been established at 631 Whitewood Rd. N.E. This site also features a community outdoor food bank and a multicultural library, further supporting the Love With Humanity Association’s mission to provide comprehensive community resources.
The Love With Humanity Association continues to expand its services, addressing the diverse needs of Calgary’s residents and their pets during challenging times.
