Orange County Animal Services is gearing up for a week-long adoption event starting June 24, where adoption fees will be waived for all pets with destination names. This initiative aims to facilitate more adoptions and fosters by removing financial barriers for residents.
Diane Summers, manager of Orange County Animal Services, emphasized the event’s significance in finding homes for their many deserving animals. She noted, “We have so many wonderful, loving, healthy dogs here, many who have been sitting and waiting for weeks or months for someone to give them a second glance.”
Currently, the shelter houses nearly 700 pets and anticipates a surge in intakes following a recent temporary closure of stray acceptance. In response, shelter officials are urgently seeking additional foster homes for both cats and dogs to maximize lifesaving efforts.
Orange County Animal Services ensures comprehensive care for all pets in foster care, covering essential supplies and veterinary needs. Those interested can view real-time counts of animals available for adoption on their website, along with details on the adoption process and foster program.
