Bunge has broadened its product lineup to include pea and faba protein concentrates, enhancing its existing soy protein offerings. Partnering with Golden Fields, a leading European dry miller of peas and faba beans, Bunge aims to address the growing demand for diverse plant proteins in food, pet, and feed markets. Golden Fields has established a dedicated facility in Liepaja, Latvia, exclusively for Bunge’s production needs.
The new pea and faba protein concentrates from Bunge boast several key attributes designed to boost protein content while adhering to non-GMO and allergen-free standards. These products are distinguished by their light color, fine powder consistency, and a protein content range of 55% to 70%, ensuring high nutritional value without allergens.
Additionally, Bunge’s concentrates promote sustainability. The proteins are derived from crops grown using crop-rotation practices and processed through dry-fractionation, eliminating the need for water or solvents commonly used in pulse protein extraction. Sourced from local farmers in Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia, the crops reduce transportation distances to the processing plant, enhancing the sustainability of the supply chain.
