Missoula’s Humane Society of Western Montana is hosting a complimentary clinic aimed at assisting pet owners ahead of the Fourth of July festivities and beyond.
Scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at 5930 Highway 93 South, the clinic will run from 2 to 5 p.m. Attendees are advised to remain in their vehicles post-check-in, ensuring safety while their pets receive essential services. These include free core vaccinations, microchips, and identification tags.
Dr. Sam Mitchell, Director of Medicine at HSWM, highlighted a recent rise in parvovirus cases during spring, underscoring the clinic’s importance in ensuring pets are adequately protected with up-to-date vaccines.
For pets already current with their vaccinations, a follow-up session is available on Wednesday, focusing solely on free microchips and ID tags.
“With the Fourth of July approaching, proper identification can mean the difference in reuniting lost pets with their owners,” noted Katie Hofschield, HSWM’s Director of Marketing. “The holiday brings heightened noise and activity levels, increasing the chances of pets becoming separated. A visible collar with an ID tag is the quickest way to facilitate a reunion, with microchips serving as a reliable backup.”
The initiative aims to equip pet owners with preventive measures crucial during the festive season, ensuring the safety and well-being of beloved companions.
