From Monday 15 July to Friday 19 July, residents of the City of Casey can take advantage of a special offer where pet registration fees will be capped at a heavily discounted rate of $5. This initiative, aimed at encouraging responsible pet ownership, applies exclusively to online registrations.
Noelene Duff PSM, Chair of Administrators for Casey, highlighted the broader benefits of pet registration fees. She emphasized that these fees support various essential services, such as reuniting lost pets with their owners. Additionally, funds contribute to educational programs on responsible pet ownership, including community outreach initiatives like road shows and events. The City also supports the ‘We Are Family’ program at Maternal and Child Health Centres and promotes animal safety education in local schools.
Currently, Casey boasts approximately 37,000 registered cats and dogs. Normally, registration fees for desexed dogs and cats are $50, with a reduced rate of $25 for pensioners. Unaltered dogs are subject to a standard fee of $222, reduced to $111 for pensioners, while puppies under six months old are charged $111, with a discounted fee of $55.50 for pensioners.
Under local regulations, all cats and dogs over three months of age must be registered with the council. Ms. Duff underscored that these fees play a crucial role in funding initiatives to investigate puppy farms, address dog attacks, and prosecute offending owners.
Residents are encouraged to take advantage of this limited-time offer to ensure compliance with local laws and support community-wide efforts to enhance pet welfare and safety.
