With the continuous improvement of people’s quality of life, there are some people with good economic ability will choose to raise some animals, such as: dogs, cats or birds and so on, and today Xiaobian will introduce a lovely bird to you, and teach you how to train chicks to recognize their owners!
Let’s take a look!
What is a nestling?
A nestling is a young bird that cannot live on its own. Nestling can be divided into early and late adult birds.
As soon as the chicks come out of the shell, their eyes are already open, and their whole body is covered with thick feathers. When the feathers dry, they can immediately follow their relatives to find food. These chicks are called premature birds.
So people are familiar with chickens, ducks, geese, geese and other chicks are premature birds.
When the nestling just comes out of the shell, it is not fully developed, the eyes are not opened, the feathers on the body are few, even the whole body is naked, the legs and feet are weak, there is no ability to live independently, and it needs to stay in the nest to be fed by its relatives. Such nestling is called late adult bird.
The nestlings of pigeons, swallows, etc., are late adults.
The nest that late adult birds live in is generally hidden and safe. Most of their relatives are fierce and can protect their children, so the survival rate of nestlings is significantly higher than that of early adult birds.
Because of this, late adults have significantly more eggs per nest than early adults.
There is a phenomenon worth everyone’s attention, that is imprinting!
Imprinting is an important form of learning for all newborn animals, helping the defenceless creatures cling to their parents and secure their food supply.
Animals take the first animal they see as their mother and imitate its behavior. This is a special type of imprinting in animal behavior, also known as initial imprinting.
How are chicks trained to recognize their owners?
As I have just said, we must be with the chicks when they come out of their shells, or be the first person they see when they are born, and then we will feed them and protect them regularly the day after tomorrow, so that they will recognize us.
But we also need time to clean up the home of the chicks and give them what help we can. If the chicks are injured, we can find them in time and take good care of them, so that the chicks will recognize themselves as owners faster!
Secondly, we can also pass the day after tomorrow’s training, but this needs us to spend some time, we need to often look at the birds, let their faces deeply imprinted in their minds!
